Sometimes Outdoors.
Monthly Camping and Hiking.
Fun.
Troop 16 has monthly camping trips from September to June each year at location within the New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania area at either BSA Scout Camps, or National, and State Parks. In November each year during NJ Teacher’s Convention, we have a Historic Trip to either Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Annapolis and Baltimore Inner Harbor, and Gettysburg, PA. We attend West Point Military Academy Cadet Parade, Tour, and Football Games; US Coast Guard Training Facility in Cape May, NJ; Beach Jam camping on the beaches of Wildwood, NJ; NJ State Police Jamboree every five years, and many more.
Adventure.
Troop 16 camping trip adventures include shooting sports, whitewater rafting, cooking, first aid, wilderness survival, fire building and axe yard safety, knots, swimming, hiking (5, 10, 15, and 20 miles), map and compass as well as earning rank advancements in a safe environment.
Learning.
The outdoors is a place for Scouts to learn ecology, and practice conservation of nature’s resources. Scout programs are a safe place for Scouts to fail, and learn from their mistakes — a place to learn leadership, responsibilities, and live with one another.
